About the Role
The Plant Controller is responsible for all the daily and monthly accounting, reporting, and internal control tasks required for the Memphis, Lauderdale Plant. Included with this is periodic involvement in financial matters at the Ebrofrost Plant which is on the same campus. The position works closely with Plant Operations and Corporate Finance to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial, production and inventory information. In addition, this position drives the implementation and maintenance of internal financial control procedures at the plants by ensuring proper documentation and testing for compliance.What You’ll Do
- Manage Plant Accounting staff at the Memphis Lauderdale plant, ensuring proper utilization of resources to achieve all assigned objectives
- Ensure timely processing of daily production information and validation of reported totals for WIP and finished goods
- Analyze, reconcile and adjust rice, packaging and finished goods inventory balances weekly in SAP and work with the Operations teams to understand and reduce inventory loss
- Manage the non-stock purchase order entry and receipt process for goods and services to ensure timely resolution of Accounts Payable issues
- Lead and participate in all facets of the month-end and year-end financial close: reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals with timely collection and reporting of operational metrics and narratives. Follow up on management inquiries and audit requests as necessary
- Facilitate resolution of all general accounting and reporting issues that occur at these facilities
- Lead or participate in all required physical inventories and cycle count programs
- Review and distribute necessary reporting for operational and financial performance metrics, including but not limited to yields, OEE’s, plant headcount, throughputs, and shrink
- Review GL account reconciliations and follow up on any issues
- Document and maintain the plant financial internal control policies
- Prepare and review the annual budget (including support files) and all required periodic financial forecasting for these plants
- Support the Regional Controller and Corporate Finance teams by: leading financial process improvements and their resulting change; completing or providing information to complete all government and regulatory audit reporting; completing ad-hoc spending or cost analyses and other requests as they arise.
- Support plant operational decision-making by ensuring the delivery of regular periodic or requested financial information
- Complete all necessary BOM and recipe maintenance in SAP, including new product costing
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. MBA or CPA/CMA certification a plus
- Minimum 10 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- Current SAP manufacturing accounting proficiency experience required
- Prior experience in cost accounting and/or a plant accounting environment
- Supervisory experience
- Must be proficient in all areas of Microsoft office, particularly Microsoft Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of general accounting principles
- Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task
- Must be able to work independently and make decisions in line with Plant and Finance department objectives
- Excellent time management skills and job prioritization skills required
Working Conditions
- General office environment and conditions with regular recurring requirement to walk manufacturing plant floor to observe inventories, equipment performance, or plant processes.
- Visual acuity to read and evaluate data
- Able to use a variety of communication methods on a frequent basis
- Ability to operate a keyboard.
