About the Role

The Warehouse Supervisor coordinates and supervises hourly warehouse employees to ensure the efficient movement of goods, including receiving, storage, and shipment. This role manages sanitation, inventory control, and communication with the Warehouse Manager while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and company policies.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Manage, evaluate, and report on warehouse productivity
  • Assign trucks to proper loading docks
  • Inspect vehicles for equipment condition, leaks, odors, etc., and accept or reject for loading; provide daily railcar inspection reports to Warehouse Manager
  • Notify Traffic Coordinator regarding truck arrivals and equipment condition
  • Calculate product layout in vehicles to ensure proper weight distribution and stability for safe transit
  • Supervise and schedule loading crews based on shipping volume
  • Monitor finished goods inventory for proper stock rotation
  • Conduct weekly or as-requested physical inventory of finished goods
  • Ensure adherence to sanitation schedules and routine cleanup
  • Track and order operating supplies such as pallets, dunnage, and dunnage bags
  • Train and oversee hourly employees in safe procedures for loading/unloading, dock equipment, forklift operation, and product placement
  • Ensure warehouse labor is utilized efficiently during idle periods
  • Train and certify forklift operators to comply with OSHA standards; hold regular operator meetings
  • Maintain MSDS and HACCP records
  • Conduct safety meetings, instruct personnel on safe work habits, and manage accident reporting
  • Administer verbal and/or written disciplinary actions as needed, in accordance with union contracts and plant rules; conduct annual performance reviews for supervised employees
  • Check and approve payroll, and initiate personnel status changes (probation completion, vacation, holiday, sick time, etc.)
  • Communicate mechanical issues to maintenance and the Warehouse Manager
  • Safeguard company assets and coordinate with security personnel
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager


What We’re Looking For

  • College degree preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of management experience in a high-volume warehouse or distribution operation, preferably in the food service industry
  • Knowledge of supply chain, data processing, transportation, and warehousing operations
  • 2–5 years’ experience with WMS systems, preferably SAP
  • Certified Forklift Operator
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to give direction and lead a team effectively
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment
  • Physical ability to lift and handle objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb and work at heights
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to read, calculate, and record data; prepare reports

 

Working Conditions

  • Non-air-conditioned warehouse environment
  • Ability to handle the physical demands of warehouse operations
  • Majority of time spent walking and standing (~90%)
  • Moderate noise levels
  • Scheduled work shifts with occasional emergency call-outs
