Riviana Foods Inc., the volume leader in the $1 billion U.S. retail rice category and largest supplier of branded and private label rice products in the U.S., has a great opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Accountant to join their team in Memphis, TN.
Job summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for all the daily and monthly accounting and reporting tasks required for the Memphis IQF Plant. The position works closely with Plant Operations and Corporate Finance to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial, production and inventory information. While part of a shared service Finance group across the two facilities, this position plays a key role in the month-end close, interpretation and presentation of results, and development of all budgets and forecasts for the IQF facility.
Major job duties/responsibilities
• Responsible for collection, input and analysis of plant production and operational accounting data on a daily and monthly basis
• Reconcile daily plant inventories and appropriate reserves
• Compile and present internal plant performance reporting to plant management
• Receive, match and code plant invoices, prepare new vendor request and resolve accounts payable issues as needed
• Assist in physical inventories including but not limited to assigning and observing counts analysis, reconciliation and reporting
• Conduct the plant month-end close prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
• Analyze total plant expenditures including comparison to budgets
• Prepare and present monthly results to senior leadership in conjunction with the Plant Manager
• Research and construction of the annual manufacturing budget and subsequent updates in conjunction with plant leadership
• Construct bills of material ad routings/recipes for new items
• Assure compliance with traditional GAAP practices and internal controls, especially as they relate to inventory
• Any other tasks as assigned by the Accounting Manager, Plant Manager or other member of Management
• Current SAP manufacturing accounting proficiency experience required
• Prior experience in cost accounting and/or a plant accounting environment
• Must be proficient in all areas of Microsoft office, particularly Microsoft Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of general accounting principles
• Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task
• Must be able to work independently and make decisions in tme with Plant and Finance department objectives
• Excellent time management skills and job prioritization skills required

• Office environment with exposure to the manufacturing environment
• PC proficiency - advanced SAP, Windows, PowerPoint, Excel
• Able to use a variety of communication methods on a frequent basis
• Ability to operate a keyboard
Education
• BS Accounting, MBA or CPA/QMA certification a plus
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years' of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
