Description

The Quality Technician position performs support functions for the Quality Department with supervision involvement. The purpose of the position is to assist in the review and filing of Quality Department generated records and forms as well as other clerical tasks assigned by the Quality Manager or Plant Management.

Key Job Requirements:

  • Support and comply with all quality management systems, continuous improvement programs, food safety programs and employee safety programs.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP.
  • Collection, review, and filing of Quality Department generated records and forms.
  • Collection, review, and filing of other records and forms as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  • Maintaining facility training records log.
  • Clerical functions such as making copies or creating forms via formats or parameters given by Quality Manager or Plant Management.
  • Basic math skills = addition, subtraction, calculation of averages, percentages.
  • Maintenance of the product specification database.
  • Must be assertive, self-motivated and dependable.
  • Must be able to work overtime and on weekends as required.

Skills and Abilities

Physical and / or mental requirements

  • Sitting, walking, and climbing of stairs.
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel minimum). SAP preferred.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Good vision.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Conversational English knowledge preferred
  • Strong filing and other organizational skills.

Equipment Used:

  • Computer.
  • Calculator.
  • Phone and other standard office equipment.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to hot and cold weather, noise, and dust.
  • Must be familiar with and use proper PPE in performing daily job tasks.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Prior Work Experience

  • 1 – 2 years administrative experience preferred

Certificates and / or licenses

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • Qualify for TWIC Card
