Role Summary
The Production Supervisor – IQF is responsible for supervising a designated shift and managing all operational requirements with a strong focus on safety, quality, cost, and adherence to company policies. This role is accountable for executing department goals and meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) to achieve safety, quality, value, and cost (S, Q, V, C) results for all IQF operations. The role also supports IQF product development initiatives and contributes to the long-term strategy of shelf-stable product lines, including formulation, processing methods, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
What You’ll Do
- Plan and schedule staffing, processes, and equipment to meet KPIs.
- Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve work process and equipment issues.
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external procedures and regulations, including HACCP, GMPs, and applicable FDA/USDA regulations.
- Oversee sanitation programs to ensure standards exceed requirements.
- Formulate recipes and processes for new product development; ensure results are documented and statistically sound.
- Initiate and execute continuous improvement projects.
- Ensure products are produced according to regulations and critical factors, maintaining food safety for consumers.
- Collaborate with departments such as marketing, quality, operations, and engineering to deliver project commitments on time.
- Plan and implement leadership training, employee development, and performance management.
- Partner with facility leadership to ensure compliance with quality, sanitation, food safety, and process improvement standards.
- Address HR issues, maintain sound labor relationships, and participate in labor negotiations as required.
- Provide input for and manage the operating budget.
- Adhere to budget standards for staffing, overtime, and material usage.
- Track actuals to budget and explain variances; recommend corrective actions.
- Analyze processes, equipment, and performance trends across the shift; establish standards and monitoring systems.
- Identify improvement opportunities and ensure implementation of corrective actions.
- Champion new product development and support the implementation of innovative formulations and techniques.
What We’re Looking For
- College degree preferred (B.S. Food Science, Management, or related field).
- 5–10 years of food industry production experience; minimum 4 years supervisory experience preferred.
- Technical expertise in processing IQF and frozen food products.
- Strong knowledge of FDA/USDA regulations, particularly for frozen foods.
- Leadership experience in process control and mechanical knowledge of processing, packaging, and warehousing equipment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Technical skills to perform and troubleshoot all activities and equipment in the area of responsibility.
- Understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Ability to adapt rapidly to changing priorities.
- Ability to work in temperatures ranging from -40°F to +100°F.
- Effective problem-solving, team-building, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of GFSI requirements and food safety standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with company software applications and automated systems.
Working Conditions

- Willingness to provide overtime coverage when necessary.
