Senior Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety Summary


The Manager, Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S), under the guidance of Sr. Leadership will provide essential and high quality environmental, health and safety services at the Memphis, TN, Arkansas, Freeport, TX, and/or other facilities (the “Facilities”). The Manager will provide the leadership for developing and sponsoring standards for environmental compliance and safety, as well as develop and manage: 1) Environmental Compliance programs; 2) OSHA Compliance programs; 3) the First Responder Team; 4) Incident Investigations; 5) Emergency Response Plans and drills; 6) Ergonomic Safety programs; 7) General Safety programs; 8) Coordination of Training requirements for all such programs; and 9) EH&S Orientation programs at the Facilities. Additionally, the EH&S Manager will provide input, guidance and/or direction regarding compliance and regulatory matters on an as needed basis. This role supports all hours of operations at the Facilities as necessary and requires a flexible work schedule.

  1. Reliable, consistent, on-site attendance is a requirement. This position requires punctuality and dependable attendance in order to meet the needs of the business; including attending and participating in meetings and presentations
  2. Promotes environmental and safety awareness, accident prevention and employee involvement in regard to a safe work environment. Ensures employees have an understanding of the safety expectations of the organization
  3. Evaluate operational practices to determine methods to eliminate or control workplace hazards
  4. Develop, maintain and control all Environmental and Safety programs, related documents and compliance requirements throughout the Facilities, as needed
  5. Develop materials and provide resources for environmental compliance and safety awareness training for the Facilities, as needed
  6. Lead and oversee the development and implementation efforts of Ergonomic programs for the Facilities
  7. Serve as a resource in safety expertise for all Supply Chain associates
  8. Oversee environmental, OSHA compliance & related record keeping compliance; conduct compliance audits at the Facilities and establish a format for reporting on communication (e.g., best practices and alerts)
  9. Consults and coordinates Workers' Compensation claims administration among the Facilities
  10. Audits and consults Facility Security operations at all Facilities
  11. Develop, train and monitor Incident investigation programs and Emergency Response Plans for the Facilities
  12. Develop Environmental Compliance and Site Safety Inspection checklists – implement, train and monitor same
  13. Monitor Environmental Compliance for all fuel storage tanks and other regulated operations and associated record keeping requirements
  14. Establish working relationships with operations, engineering, and support functions to ensure consistency in implementation of HSE programs
  15. Serve as Hazardous Material Liaison for Supply Chain Operations
  16. Review and select appropriate resource materials for environmental and safety training in the various operations
  17. Manage Storm Water, Risk Management Programs, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures Planning and conduct inspections for the Facilities, as required by law and good practice


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May indirectly provide guidance and/or oversight to employees and/or contractors participating on a project team. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing contractors, planning, assigning, and directing work, and resolving problems. Responsibilities also include sponsoring, directing, coordinating, and supporting project and process improvement teams, and participating in and/or supporting project teams sponsored by other management team members.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year College or University in safety, engineering, science, or other relevant field of study

Experience Requirements:

  • At least [four] years of experience in Environmental, OSHA, and Safety Management System compliance and implementation
  • Workers Compensation experience preferred
  • Safety certification or other relevant professional designation (like CSP, PE, etc.) preferred or possess an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have a minimum of 4 years of EH&S professional experience in a General Industry setting
  • Prior training and experience with CAA, CWA, RCRA, OSHA 10/30 General Industry, OSHA 511/501
  • Must have working knowledge of EH&S Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficient knowledge of Environmental Regulation and Occupational Safety
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels within the company
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Demonstrate ability to work closely with associates on sensitive issues regarding exposure, work-related injuries, and illnesses
  • Demonstrate leadership, team building, action planning, and coordination skills
  • Skills in preparing business cases and presentations
  • Ability to lead a project, stay focused, delegate, and be efficient, organized and effective in managing multiple priorities, establishing meaningful goals, while meeting all commitments on a timely basis

The noise level in the office environment is typically quiet, but the candidate may be occasionally exposed to loud noise levels. Some travel is required for this position.
