Painter / Facility Technician
Riviana Foods is looking for a person who is proud of their work, is accountable for getting things done and who will own the role. We are looking for someone who has industrial painting expertise and experience, plus a solid understanding of facility operational needs and preventative maintenance associated work tasks. Under the direction of the facility and utility management team, the Facilities Painting Technician is responsible for leading, overseeing, reviewing, and participating in the maintenance and repair of plant's facilities with a primary focus on interior and exterior painting and upkeep of the building. This includes all interior and exterior doors, walls, bollards, etc. Drywall installation and finishing is a must, along with floor tile replacement, baseboard trim, and window glass replacement (preferred). Proper use of measuring instruments to hang presentation boards, add and remove wall anchors, and effect repairs on any damaged or modified applications. Must also be able to assist with other facility related tasks such as ceiling tiles, plumbing repairs, and any other duties as assigned by management. The role will be a M-F (days 7 - 3) position with limited overtime, and work schedule may occasionally be adjusted based on plant needs
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and report building defects as they occur
- Perform a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance for facilities, including, but not limited to carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical trades work
- Ensures that facilities are available for use and consistently maintained in a safe and clean condition
- Inspect facilities and grounds for safety; identify, correct and report hazardous conditions and facility maintenance needs to supervisor
- Perform general maintenance duties inside and outside of facilities; install and repair drywall masonry and tile; perform maintenance painting including application of paints, varnishes, and lacquers; install, repair, and adjust appliances; perform necessary preparation and clean-up work
- Operate various maintenance equipment and hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner
Contractor work:
- Inspects work of contractor for conformity to specifications; recommend corrective actions as necessary
- Provide courteous customer service; respond to questions and inquiries from staff regarding Work Requests
- Complies with all internal and external policies, procedures and regulation
- Keeps work areas organized and sanitary according to set standards
- Follows standard operating processes and procedures
- Adheres to GMP’s, HACCP, OSHA and company policies and procedures
- Responsible for own personal safety and safety of others in working area
Education
- A high school diploma/GED equivalency is required
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years' demonstrated hands-on industrial, not commerical, painting is required
- A minimum of 3 years' background in facilities maintenance is required
- Any painting or facility management certification is preferred

- Strong communication skills - much proactively share daily/weekly/monthly work requirements at all levels and be able to effectively and accurately deliver spot on reporting on work status to management and operations leaders as needed
- Strong estimating skills - must be able to identify quantity and quality of materials needed to do the job, while ensuring inventory remains low while not running out of supplies
- Use of a framing square and tape measure
- Use of power tools and what they are called
- Basic carpentry skills
- Explain paint finishes, gloss, semi-gloss and flat & explain when to use each
- Explain proper prep and application of oil based paint, water based paint and epoxy paint
- Explain preparation to paint steel, concrete and wood
- Use of caulk gun and how to apply
- Cut and install panel sheeting
- Work at heights up to 40’
- Drywall experience including install and repair, mudding and taping
- Concrete repairs and new installation
- Understanding of 5S adherence
