Maintenance Mechanic - Fresno, CA

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing manufacturing equipment, replacing worn parts and changeovers.  Perform preventive maintenance and repairs as assigned to meet production and operational requirements.

Key Job Requirements (must be able to perform the following maintenance functions and have a working knowledge of them, including additional tasks as assigned):

  • Lift and install forming tubes with help on all vertical and horizontal form and fill packaging machines.
  • All needed adjustments to vertical and horizontal form and fill packaging machines in a timely manner to achieve proper operation.
  • Changeover - 
    • adjust all automatic case packing in a timely manner to achieve proper operation.
    • adjust all carton packaging machinery.
  • Adjust and repair long goods saws.
  • Adjust and repair all storeveyors and overhead conveyor lines.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, repair -
    • all press equipment and product dryers.
    • all flour distribution and flour unloading equipment.
    • repair press vacuum system.
    • repair all electrical control panels using a volt/ohm meter.
    • AC and DC motors and motor controllers using a volt/ohm meter and/or an amprobe.
  • Working knowledge of - 
    • all boiler equipment including water pumps, water mixing valves and controls.
    • all closed loop chilled water systems.
    • all building HVAC systems.
  • Weld using all types of in-house welding equipment safely and to fill out a welding tag after each use.
  • Use small machining equipment (i.e., drills, grinders, etc.) and large machining equipment (i.e., lathe, band saw, etc.) safely.
  • Construct and modify Production and Packaging machinery from verbal instructions or blueprints.

Skills and Abilities

Physical and / or mental requirements:

  • Able to lift 75 pounds overhead 10% of the time.
  • Able to work from heights either from ladder or man lift.
  • Able to work in room temperatures in excess of 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Able to work in extreme outside temperatures for a limited time.
  • Able to work in a dust-filled area with proper equipment.
  • Able to respond to pages on the PA system.

Equipment Used:

  • Ability to repair and adjust all packaging lines and supporting equipment in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Ability to repair and adjust all production lines and supporting equipment in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Understanding of boiler, chiller, and cooling tower systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment, either PLC or relay logic, with a volt/ohm meter.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Ability to use a cutting torch safely.
  • Ability to weld with a stick and wire feed welder.
  • Ability to complete projects as assigned by Maintenance Manager or Supervisor with the use of in-house labor or outside contract labor.
  • Licensed to operate all types of forklifts and material handling equipment (all classifications.)

Working Conditions:

  • Be able to work in hot, cold, noisy, dirty environment on a daily basis.
  • Must wear PPE.

Education

  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Technical training preferred.

Prior Work Experience

  • Two years previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
  •  Must have a maintenance or mechanical background.
Shift
  • Available PM shifts (4pm-1230am)
  • Weekend and overtime hours available
