Description

The Yard Mule Operator is responsible for the timely moving and spotting dropped containers/trailers in our yard  to facilitate the needs of the Warehouse Shipping Department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Operate Yard Mule in a safe manner during numerous daily procedures when moving loaded and empty containers/trailers and adhere to posted speed limits
  2. Must perform pre-operational checks on Yard Mule/associated equipment before each shift and report any issues
  3. Must function and interact on a daily basis with warehouse personnel, including the Shipping Clerk
  4. Must adhere to all Riviana Foods, Inc. procedures and rules
  5. Must be assertive, self-motivated and dependable
  6. Must be able to work overtime and on weekends as required
  7. Must adhere to all Safety Guidelines associated with the job.  This includes, but not limited to: wearing seat belt, monitoring speed, and ensure the horn, backup alarm and strobe light are working properly.  MUST make sure carrier being loaded or unloaded is secure i.e. chocking the wheels
  8. Complete sanitation as required
  9. Duties and tasks as assigned by Management

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  1.  Education
  • High School Diploma is preferred

            (B) Prior Work Experience

  • Minimum of 6-12 months

(C)       Certificates and / or licenses

    • Valid Texas Driver’s License
    • Company provided Certification is required before operating the Yard Mule or Forklift

Skills and Abilities

(A)   Physical and / or mental requirements

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Very good driving record
  • Must comprehend and understand the functional operations of a Yard Mule
