About the Role
The Shipping and Receiving Associate works under the direction of the Shipping, Receiving, and Warehouse Supervisor and plays a critical role in warehouse operations. This position is responsible for preparing products for shipment, receiving incoming materials, supporting production needs, and maintaining accurate inventory records while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and food safety standards.
What You’ll Do
- Follow sampling procedures for all incoming products as outlined in Receiving Procedures
- Prepare orders for shipment by pulling product using picking tickets
- Verify Bills of Lading against loading sheets for outgoing shipments
- Take and upload photos of all outgoing shipments
- Perform truck inspections, seal verifications, and paperwork verification for incoming and outgoing loads
- Inspect incoming shipments to ensure seals are intact and report discrepancies to the Supervisor and/or Quality Department before accepting loads
- Prepare Warehouse Receiving Reports for all incoming shipments
- Properly label incoming ingredients, including identifying gluten, allergen, or organic products with the appropriate color-coded labels
- Inspect trucks and trailers for cleanliness, insect infestation, and general condition prior to loading or unloading
- Reject containers when necessary in coordination with the Shipping, Receiving, and Warehouse Supervisor or Food Safety Supervisor
- Follow Riviana Foods Safety and Accident Prevention Rules at all times
- Notify Quality Assurance of any product that may not meet quality standards or could pose a food safety risk and document appropriately
- Properly sample incoming products
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and maintain knowledge of HACCP requirements
- Ensure truck inspections are performed according to Riviana Foods policies
- Work independently or alongside team members to complete assigned projects
- Perform all tasks with a focus on quality across receiving, handling, storage, and shipping activities
- Communicate effectively with other departments and supervisors to meet production schedules and workflow needs
- Maintain accurate records of inventory movement and keep inventory systems up to date
