The Plant Controller manages all financial and accounting functions at the plant location, ensuring proper and consistent control procedures and their implementation. In addition, they provide timely financial, inventory, cost and capital information and analyses to plant and corporate management
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Complete month-end close of the plant general ledger; prepare journal entries, manufacturing variance analysis, and reporting
- Ensure proper internal control procedures are followed at the plant to safeguard company assets, particularly in the areas of inventory and spending.
- Analyze total plant expenditures including comparison to budgets
- Coordinate the collection, entry and analysis of plant operating and production data into the plant systems
- Coordinate and ensure compliance of the cycle counting process for the Freeport facility for production materials, finished goods, and spare parts.
- Prepare cost analyses for various plant projects/initiatives and new products at the request of Plant Manager or Senior Management
- Prepare and present annual plant budgets and periodic forecasts
- Coordinate required plant physical inventories, including but not limited to count analysis and reconciliation, and results reporting
- Develop financial and operational performance reports for all levels of management
- Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs (areas including utilities, labor, overhead, depreciation, etc.)
- Manage the analysis and reporting for plant capital projects. Tasks to include, but not limited to:
- Cost savings analysis
- CER development
- Weekly/Monthly reporting to track all Capital expenditures
- Process PO’s and Invoices
- Complete all required documents (additions, disposals, transfers, closing packet)
- Manage staff of accountants and/or accounting clerks who assist in the completion of the responsibilities above
- Any other tasks as assigned by the Plant Manager, Director, Mfg. Accounting, or other members of Management
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
BS/BA Accounting
CPA, CMA or MBA preferred
Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) preferred
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, in particular Microsoft Excel
- Prior Work Experience
10 years of related accounting management experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience with a fully integrated ERP system such as SAP
Experience with payroll systems
