Staff Accountant (General Accounting) - Harrisburg, PA

The Staff Accountant (General Accounting) in this position will perform a variety of accounting duties to support the Corporate Accounting Department’s responsibility for integrity of the Balance Sheet of the company in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.  This role will be primarily responsible for:

  • Accounting and reconciliation of a variety of general ledger accounts to support the Balance Sheet
  • Analyze various General Ledger accounts and cost centers to ensure integrity of the Income Statement

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Accounting and reconciliation of a variety of general ledger accounts to support the Balance Sheet primarily include:
    • Cash - daily/weekly import of files from banks, bank reconciliations/fees, accrued interest
    • Review SG&A cost centers and analysis
    • Other miscellaneous prepaid items and accruals
    • Enter monthly JE during the monthly close
    • Quarterly reserve entries - bad debts, rebills, cash discounts and unsaleables
  • Prepare monthly journal entries in support of the month end closing process
  • Prepare detail analysis for Preliminary and YE audit
  • Balance Sheet account reconciliations
  • Perform special projects and assignments as required

Education

  • BS/BA Accounting or Finance

Work Experience

  • 2-3 years accounting experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups), PowerPoint
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP
  • CPA or Public Accounting experience a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
