Labor Remill Operator Summary

The person filling this role will perform all work related tasks in a safe, efficient manner while maintaining and improving product quality. This individual must be willing and able to work in a team-oriented environment, work without direct supervision on daily assignments and follow all Personal & Food Safety, 5s, & Company Policies.

More specifically, you must be able to operate material handling and processing equipment; take a physical inventory of supplies, bulk rice, ingredients and finished goods when requested; load/unload trucks; inspect vehicles for equipment condition, leaks, odors, etc., and reject/accept vehicles for loading; participate in Sanitation for areas as assigned.  This job requires you to spend 90% of your time on your feet, walking or standing.  You must also have the strength and ability to lift and handle objects and product weighing 50lb's occasionally.

Key Areas for Success

Production & Inventory

  • You will help the supervisor to ensure a safe and quality product
  • You will provide other operators with data entry and support in Access/SAP on supplies and bulk rice
  • You will learn how to operate Riviana material handling and processing equipment
  • You must be willing to take physical inventory of supplies, bulk rice, ingredients and finished goods on a regular basis when requested
  • You must be willing to learn and precisely follow all related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as they are written

Shipping & Receiving

  • Load / unload trucks and inspect those vehicles for proper operational capacity (tires, body condition, leaks, odors, tires, etc., as well as accepting/rejecting vehicles for loading
  • Calculate the proper layout/configuration of product in those vehicles for correct weight distribution and stability during transit/movement to ensure the product arrives to the customer in good condition
  • You must be willing to learn and precisely follow all related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as they are written

Personal/Food Safety, 5S, Company Policies

  • Follow all compliance based records exactly as written
  • You must be willing to learn and precisely follow all related Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as they are written

Fixed Assets/Other

  • Quickly and accurately communicate and mechanical problems with production equipment to the supervisor, maintenance and management
  • Safeguard company assets and communicate with Management continually
  • If not already licensed, become certified/licensed to safely and properly operate a forklift which comply with OSHA standards
  • Actively engaged and involved in seasonal processing, shift rotation and become cross-trained (when and where needed)

Job Knowledge

Education

  • Must have the skills typically acquired/demonstrated with a high school education (able to read, write and speak at that level)

Prior Work Experience

  • 2-5 years warehouse operation/material handling experience or equivalent
  • An understanding of advance mechanical concepts and the use of related tools
  • Knowledge in using GMP’s and OSHA requirements
  • Certified Forklift Operator preferred

Additional Skills and Abilities

  • You should expect to spend 90% of your time on the job walking and standing
  • Able to demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude
  • Must be able to read, identify, calculate and record data to perform/prepare narrative reports
  • Ability to provide leadership and directional guidance in a positive and engaging manner with others
  • Must be able to work independently and successfully perform your job
  • Must be willing and able to climb and work at heights
  • Must have the strength and ability to lift up to 50lb’s as needed
  • Must possess or be willing to learn basic computer operations and software
  • Must be willing and able to work OT, irregular shifts and shift work as needed and must be willing to come into work when there are emergency callouts – these are all conditions of employment
  • Working conditions include non-air-conditioned warehouse and moderate noise levels (hearing protection is provided)
