Major Duties/Responsibilities:
 
  • Will be primarily assigned to either processing or packaging areas of the plant.
  • Respond to breakdown calls throughout the plant for both mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and routine lubrication on all equipment per checklists and / or manufactures' procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust and repair packaging equipment, production equipment, flour-conveying systems, work-in-process equipment and warehouse equipment.
  • Disassemble and reassemble machinery and equipment to repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components Test performance of equipment upon completion.
  • Construct and modify production, packaging and warehouse equipment from verbal instruction or blueprints.
  • Lead/assist with line changeovers as requested by the Maintenance Lead Technician or Production Coordinator.
  • Troubleshoot and perform general repairs on plant systems to include chilled water equipment, HVAC equipment, vacuum systems and boiler equipment.
  • Document work accomplished utilizing shift turnover forms, checklists, computer systems and logbooks.
  • Efficiently utilize time, tools and resources to maximize working time on the equipment.
  • Follow quality control standards, safety regulations, standard operating procedures, good manufacturing practices and good sanitation practices.
  • Detect faulty operations and defective materials and refer questionable situations to Coordinators.
  • Maintain the work and shop areas, tools and equipment in a clean and proper manner.
  • Utilize all types of in-house welding equipment safely and complete hot work permit requirements.
  • Utilize large and small machining equipment, drills, grinders, lathe, band saws, etc., safely and correctly.
  • Work with all Managers, Coordinators, and operators to repair maintenance concerns in a timely manner.
  • Train other mechanics and employees.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by a Coordinator or a Manager.

Product Quality and Food Safety Responsibilities:
 
  • As an employee of Rivianayou share in the responsibility for producing a food product that meets established specifications of the highest quality and is safe and wholesome.
  • It is every New World Pasta employee's responsibility to immediately report any incident or situation that may compromise any of the above factors or issues to their immediate Supervisor and if unavailable to the Quality Assurance Technicians and/or a Manager at the plant.

Minimum Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience/Education/Required to Successfully Perform Major Duties/Responsibilities:

Technical Requirements:

 
  • Ability to troubleshoot, repair and adjust industrial food production and packaging machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to test the operation of machinery or equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using voltmeters or other testing devices.
  • Ability to perform Root Cause Analysis
  • Ability to exercise independent initiative
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and other company employees
  • Ability to read schematics and blue prints.
  • Ability to use a cutting torch safely.
  • Ability to weld with a stick and wire feed welder.
  • Ability to complete projects as assigned by the Plant Engineer and Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Ability to be licensed to operate all types of forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Statistical processing and analysis.
  • Essential problem solving methods
  • Working knowledge of gearbox, motors, pneumatics, hydraulics, etc.
  • Working knowledge of electrical components and circuits.
  • Understanding of logic circuits, microprocessors and programmable logic controllers
  • Understanding of boilers, chilled water systems and HVAC equipment.

  • Able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Able to work form heights either from a ladder, man lift and/or platform.
  • Able to work in room temperatures in excess of 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Able to work in high noise area.
  • Able to work in extreme outside temperatures for a limited time.
  • Able to work in a dusty area.
  • Able to respond to pages on a PA system.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education:    High School diploma or equivalent GED


Experience:  Training/certification and/or background experience in an industrial maintenance function. Licensed to operate all types of forklifts and material handling equipment is desirable.
