Role Summary

This role provides the company the internal support through the management of critical supplies both physically and via SAP support systems.  This key inventory role is responsible for managing the movement of materials in support of planned production at the Memphis facility. Areas of focus include cycle count program management, inventory accuracy at the plant, establishment of inventory management SOP’s with plant personnel, continuous improvement, speed to market and customer service.

Key Aspect of Role:

  • Develop and maintain a system to address obsolete and slow-moving inventory      
  • Work in cross-functional teams (Quality, Manufacturing, Finance, planning etc.) to support new improved inventory systems
  • Assure strong controls around quality, food safety, service, and costs are in place
  • Conduct rigorous assessment and audit of critical inventory systems
  • Maintain cycle count program validating and measuring success
  • Reconcile pack line counts from all departments, and assist with the SAP updates
  • Manage the virtual inventory locations, by making systematic adjustments and working with department managers when needed
  • Utilize SAP to make real-time adjustments and system updates
  • Help develop and maintain a strong quality hold process with periodic reviews
  • Work department managers to maintain warehouse standards, in accuracy, usage, and layout
  • Establish and maintain financial standards
  • Track, analyze and monitor activity against production needs and budget parameters
  • Standardize and report key metrics around inventory process
  • Special projects and assignments as needed
  • Maintains continuous contact with employees in assigned area to ensure that they understand job assignments, are carrying out assigned duties and receive immediate assistance in the event of problems
  • Ensures that all employees are properly trained in material handling techniques and warehouse/inventory management systems
  • Uses various techniques including coaching, small group meetings, one-on-one sessions, positive recognition to cause employees to achieve desired results
  • Maintains familiarity with collective bargaining agreement (union organized plant) and/or employee handbook
  • Works with Plant Human Resources Manager and Department Managers to resolve any people issues and implement Human Resources programs, policies and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned
Education:
  • 4 year college degree, preferably BS in Production Management, Business Administration, or related fields of study.  APICS certification preferred
  • High school diploma combined with equivalent related experience
Experience:
  • 4 – 8 years of experience in food supply chain, specifically strong in inventory management

Other Key Needed Traits:
  • Strong computer skills, with advanced abilities in Excel and SAP or other ERP knowledge needed
  • Demonstrated High level of expertise and knowledge of end-to-end food business supply chain/operations preferred
  • High level of expertise in manufacturing and inventory systems
  • Excellent, clear, concise, professional written and verbal communication
  • Strong analytical and problem solving ability
  • Results driven achiever within a fast-paced high volume/velocity environment
  • Strong analytical and technical skills
  • Ability to readily understand the dynamics of an organization and adapt their management style appropriately
